UNDER THE BOARDWALK

                                               UNDER THE BOARDWALK Sold

                                                 8x8inch oil on panel

The sounds of laughter and music field the air; then came the smells of popcorn,  hotdogs, and bbq.  I have visited this memory many times over the years, doing this painting had me return to my youth and a time gone by.  Hope you have good memories as well.

THE WEDGE

                                                             THE WEDGE
                                                          6x6inch oil on panel

Newport Beach, summer, big waves, surfers, suntan oil, put that all together and you have the "WEDGE."   I go down to watch the crazy, skillful surfers risk their lives to master the crashing thundering waves that brake this part of the coast.  Now you ask, "Do you surf" I don't even know how to swim so my answer is a resounding NO!.  I just love watching and painting the beauty of it all.

SLOW DOWN

                                                                        SLOWING
                                                        6X6" oil on wood panel

With fall approaching and trees turning  gold, it's a time when all seems to slow down even the water slowed enough to look like glass.  So! I thought I would do the same and just slow down

each is 6x6 oil on wood panel

Just some of the moods we feel and most of the time, don't express.  We don't want to bother, we don't want to talk, we don't want to reveal.  We smile, we joke, laugh, talk loud, we hide, and like umbrellas we hold close protecting us from the rains.

SOFT FOCUS

                                                           SOFT FOCUS
                                                     6x6 oil on wood panel

With the sun just coming up and the air thick with fog the house appeared to float in a field mustard greens.  In the distance a ships horn called out, adding to this, the sound of gulls  squawking to each other along the coast made for a beginning of a new day.  I took one photo in this soft focus atmosphere and continued on my way with hope in my heart in anticipation of meeting her.

                                                            6X6" oil on panel

Heading south trying to catch the sun as it slowly sinks behind the clouds and eventually giving way to night my mind drifts to all that has taken place.   Like the setting sun and the beginning of the new day that will fallow, I too look forward to new beginnings as well, I do indeed

"STOP!"

                                                                "STOP!"
                                                         6x6 oil on panel

With the evening approaching the sky  bathed everything with a soft pinkish glow.  I found myself a place to eat, grabbed a room and settled in.

"SNOWBOUND"

                                                       "SNOWBOUND"
                                                       6X6 oil on panel

Not sure of how much further I could go, I pulled I finely found a motel and was just able to park and check-in.  With the trip coming to a stop I turned to look out of the lobby window I thought, "WOW!" I'm without a doubt "Snowbound"

SOUND OF SILENCE

                                                                SOUNDS OF SILENCE
                                                        6x6 oil on panel

It was still early as the sun peeked through the trees.  My fishing buddy, a master bass fishermen guided his bass boat quietly and smoothly along.  It was mornings like this that we barely spoke a word.   Talking seemed out of place so we would look at one another and smile in agreement at the beauty that was all around us.  We became part of the sound of silence.

This painting will be at this summers Festival of arts in Laguna Beach CA

SOFT CLOUDS

                                                           SOFT CLOUDS
                                                           6x6 oil on panel

It was such a wonderfully clear day, so I had to get out and just walk.  The weather was perfect, I had water and a protein bar and I journeyed out. I was about an hour into the walk when I heard distant rumblings.  Looking up when I got to a clearing I could see big beautiful clouds coming in.   I'm thinking, its time to head on out of here.  I looked back and the hills and mountains as the cloud cover rolled over them like a soft white blanket.  It rained all day.

This and other works can be seen at this summers Festival of Art

"FRANK'S"

                                                       FRANK'S LIQUOR
                                                         6x6 oil on panel

So, around 2am my are eyes open and I'm wide awake.  I walk over to the the fridge and it's empty, of course what else would it be.  See, I was just passing through this little town and thought I would stop at the first hotel and get some shut eye, but now I'm wide awake and  thinking,  a little nightcap would work.   I mosey over to the window and look out onto a darkened street and the one place that's open is "Frank's", lucky me!

This will be in this summers Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach CA

"CLOUD COVER"

                                                            CLOUD COVER
                                                                    6X6 oil

Loving the city as I do this was a no brainier to want to paint.  It is a culmination of several photos all introduced to each other to make one painting.  Like meeting new people to make a party, all have to get along and complement one another.   I am posting this framed as most of my small works will be for this years summer Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach CA.

"A TRAVELER"

                                                          "A TRAVELER"
                                                          6x6 oil on panel

I stood and felt the warmth of the setting sun on my back.  The grove of trees lie ahead and from where I was standing couldn't see much further.  Like my life, I wondered what was beyond.  I knew both are parallel to each other and in time, all will be revealed, but for now; it is a conundrum.  After all… I am only a traveler.  (SOLD)

"L.A. BOUND"

                                        "L.A. BOUND" / UP CLOSE & PERSONAL

Funny how lost I got with ear-buds plugged into my head and wipers keeping in time to the music, made an hours drive seem like a blink.... I had to stop and think, did I run any lights, did I do anything foolish?  Coming up to the next stoplight gave me time to look out of my windshield and take in the rain and bright-lights. I love this kind of night.

This painting is 14x14x1.5" on canvas

"MY L.A."

There is just something that pulls me back to L.A. otherwise known as Los Angeles.  I grew up in LA with those towering palm trees, blue skies and all that it had to offer at that time in the late 40s, that's right I said late 40s, it even sounds strange to me, but that be the truth and now its 2013 so you do the math.  At that time the streets were field with so many electric and telephone poles with crisscrossing wires so as a kid looking up it seemed crowded.  Now as we travel around there is virtually none, especially with all our iPhone.  I don't even have a house phone, who needs one, we have cable and all those satellites that crowd the skies, we just cant see them now so its all good... Isn't it?
This painting is an original oil, 6x6" on a wood 1.5" deep varnished box: "Available At"schwartzart@earthlink.net

"SIMPLICITY"

It was late in the day when I pulled off the road and got out of my van.  Leaning up against it I stood looking at the house across from me.   I didn't see a telephone or electric pole anywhere.   I could just make out some chickens and goats and heard a dog barking.  I held my iPhone up to make

a call but no signal.  WOW, I thought, not to be able to go on line, what would I do with my 31 passwords that I need to stay in contact with all??....   I stared at the house across from me for sometime listening to the sounds of the earth and thought, "Such Simplicity".
This 6x6" oil painting in on archival panel mounted to a varnished wooden box requiring no framing:  (SOLD)
