LAGUNA

                                                            LAGUNA
                                                       6x6 oil on panel

For those that know Laguna Beach, I don't have to say where this is.  It is such a recognizable iconic spot.  I had an opportunity to be at a house that was at this location giving me this view.  Three photos later and back at my studio I put this to oils immortalizing it.

BRACKISH WATERS

                                                        BRACKISH WATERS
                                                          6x6" oil on panel

The sun was setting as I raced to find parking in order to find parking and walk down to the water.  This place is back-bay in Newport Beach with up scale homes that surround this most beautiful place.  I had to sneak in just to get the shot.  There is a price to see beauty, a price to see brackish water.

PARTY LINE

                                                              "PARTY LINE"
                                                           6X6" oil on panel

At one time way before tweeting, texting, deleting, Instagram, streaming, blogging and, and, and.... There were "telephones", some with long tangled wires, some had, if you got fancy the curly wire at the end of your receiver that one had to wipe down from sticky hands.
Well! at that time, while talking on your "telephone" you would realize you where not alone... It was the age of saying to a total stranger, "Sorry", "Can you hang up now!" or "I was talking first".   Ah Yes!... The "Party Line".

"FARAWAY"

                                                             FARAWAY
                                                         6X6 oil on wood

Catching the light at just the right moment as it changed within seconds and disappeared.
I was glad I took the picture.  It had been lost amongst hundreds of other photos from over the years.  I pined it to my studio wall and thought on it till finely I said OK! I'm ready for you.

"SCRAPBOOK SERIES"

                                                             "PALM SPRINGS RUN"
                                                           24x24 oil on canvas

I remember getting up early and making this Palm Spring run.    I was just in time see the morning sun come up giving a shout out to all... "I'M HERE"   At that moment I balanced my camera on the steering wheel firing off countless shots thinking; There's got to be a painting in there someplace.   This painting is part of my on going "SCRAPBOOK SERIES" that will soon become a book.

"SCRAPBOOK SERIES"

                                                  "ROMANCE IN PARADISE"
                                                        14x14 oil on canvas

With warm breezes and everything left somewhere far faraway, its time to kick back, have something cool in your hand to sip on, distant island music, a love one close by.  All that said;  Now if no-one says something stupid.... Its "Romance in Paradise"

"CALIFORNIA EVENING"

LA evening and another ride back home.  I'm driving all by myself lost in thoughts with my CD playing music that I DJ for drives like this.   My love for music is really an eclectic ranging from "Pink Martini" to "Steve Oliver"and "Neil Young"... The bottom line is, music is a big part of my life and is on all the time moving my mind around like clear liquid.  So... driving around listening to music gives me time to think and see colors and subjects I have yet to paint and talk about on canvas.  What can I say... It is the way of my life.  After all, somebody has to do it.  ;-}

"MY L.A."

There is just something that pulls me back to L.A. otherwise known as Los Angeles.  I grew up in LA with those towering palm trees, blue skies and all that it had to offer at that time in the late 40s, that's right I said late 40s, it even sounds strange to me, but that be the truth and now its 2013 so you do the math.  At that time the streets were field with so many electric and telephone poles with crisscrossing wires so as a kid looking up it seemed crowded.  Now as we travel around there is virtually none, especially with all our iPhone.  I don't even have a house phone, who needs one, we have cable and all those satellites that crowd the skies, we just cant see them now so its all good... Isn't it?
This painting is an original oil, 6x6" on a wood 1.5" deep varnished box: "Available At"schwartzart@earthlink.net

"LAGUNA MOON"

I was chatting with my good friend Susan Davis on Facebook.  Susan is the director and organizer of the fantastic music we have at the Festival of Art in Laguna Beach each summer.  This is the show I am a part of.  Well, on her Facebook page I spot this photo she had taken and I asked if I might use it for a painting, she replied, its yours!   So this is the painting of the moon rising above the beach town in south Laguna at night.  Thanks Susan.   This painting is 6x6" on archival panel mounted to a varnished box:  "Sold"
