Road to the Flat-Irons in Colorado while on a visit to my good friends was magical.  I was struck by how flat and broad the landscape was.  The feeling of space was amazing to my eyes.  I wanted to say by-by to all.

"BYGONES"

                                                           "BYGONES"
                                                    6X6inch oil on panel

Not sure how I came by this photo or how long I've had it, the only thing I knew is it spoke to me,  thus I had to paint it.  I remember traveling across this great country seeing small towns like this, the simplicity of a time gone by.  Now we are in an age of fake news being shouted at us.  Friends, and families disagreeing with a division like a chasm in a landscape growing wider.  So!  i painted this, hopefully not in memory of bygones, because just on the horizon one can still see trust, faith, love, caring and hope.

So folks, lets make it happen.

SOFT FOCUS

                                                           SOFT FOCUS
                                                     6x6 oil on wood panel

With the sun just coming up and the air thick with fog the house appeared to float in a field mustard greens.  In the distance a ships horn called out, adding to this, the sound of gulls  squawking to each other along the coast made for a beginning of a new day.  I took one photo in this soft focus atmosphere and continued on my way with hope in my heart in anticipation of meeting her.

"DREAM"

                                                                DREAM
                                                     6X6 oil on wood panel

Within the shadows of the trees the air was cool and quiet; I  stopped to enjoy, knowing once the fog rolls in another kind of magic and story would take place, but!  for now, I just want to listen to the silence and dream

APPROACHING

                                                             APPROACHING
                                                             6X6 oil on panel

It was up north on a cloudy weekend when I spotted this meadow of deep burnt umber's mixed with golden shades. All supporting a gathering of rumbling clouds and the approach of rains  to come.  Yet unfazed, the grazing went on without a care, I thought to myself, could I do that, could I be unfazed by what might be approaching.     (SOLD)

HOMEWARD

                                                            6X6" oil on panel

Heading south trying to catch the sun as it slowly sinks behind the clouds and eventually giving way to night my mind drifts to all that has taken place.   Like the setting sun and the beginning of the new day that will fallow, I too look forward to new beginnings as well, I do indeed

"BIRDS ON A WIRE"

                                                   "BIRDS ON A WIRE"
                                                   oil on canvas 24x24"

An early morning ride down a quiet street.  People just starting to get up and no one on the road.  I even kept my music down not to break the silence that surrounded me.   I parked and got out and standing in the middle of the road I could feel the stillness.  The only sign of life was the birds on the wire with a few that took flight.  One click of the camera and a new painting was going to come to life.

"HARVEST"

"HARVEST" a 6x6" oil on wood

Loving the open plans and fields alike I know I had to paint this.  I took countless photos of the American plains when traveling to shows back east.  Still love looking at what I takes to harvest the lands and all the hard work that goes into it.   I wanted to do this and I will be working on some larger canvass of said subject.  Stay tuned for that post.

"FARAWAY"

                                                             FARAWAY
                                                         6X6 oil on wood

Catching the light at just the right moment as it changed within seconds and disappeared.
I was glad I took the picture.  It had been lost amongst hundreds of other photos from over the years.  I pined it to my studio wall and thought on it till finely I said OK! I'm ready for you.

"EQUATION of SPACE"

                                                       "EQUATION of SPACE"
                                                            24x24 oil (sold)

This is from one of many road trips with my sis.  I was traveling around doing art show, each was a crazy adventure onto them selves.   This painting was from traveling through the heartland with its endless horizons, but more then that; The combination of sky and land made for a mind bending visual effect on the senses and emotions, numbing and exhilarating, one could not exist without the other, thus the title of the painting.

"DOWNTOWN"

"Downtown" Just the mention of it denotes feelings in everyone. Everyone has a story, memory, recollection "Something" to contribute in the mere mention of "Downtown" Sunday walks, corner bakery, breakfast, lets meet for lunch, all of this and more.... Did you know they are on the endangered list.   Yes I know, every city has a downtown.. But real downtown is like the one in long

beach, they have one, I used to live just blocks away on Broadway.. Lot's of the little stores are gone, you know, mom's and pop's, you knew there names and they yours... Changes they tell me... Glad I get to paint them and  hold on to my memory's... Oil on Birch panel, mounted on a 6x8 inch varnished box.

"HELLO SUNSHINE!"

As the morning came to be I caught the sun breaking free from this spinning ball and was dazzled by the light racing across the land almost obscuring the quiet pool of water that lay quiet, but for the buzz of dragonflies.  I smiled and said "hello sunshine!" This painting is an original oil on birch wood mounted to a varnished wooden box, it's size is 11.5 inches by 4 inches.  priced at (Sold)

"COAST HIGHWAY"

Traveling southbound on coast highway I began to remember (which by now seems like a lifetime ago) parts of my past along with all the stuff at that time could easily be made into one of today's reality TV shows.  If I told the truth of just one story, one would think that I am making it all up, but not so I smiled and thought, "There is no need for embellishment".  With my memories and the lights from Newport Beach both vanishing into the distance I say to myself "What a ride it has been"!
This 8X6inch original oil painting on Birch wood is mounted to a finished wooden box with no framing required: (Sold)
