L.A. DRIZZLE

                                                        "L.A. DRIZZLE"
                                                             24x24 oil

My continued fascination with what happens to light when out of focus has become a  wonderful dance when I am painting it...  First, I must understand what makes the blur, then how to paint it and still keep some semblance of recognition of subjects.  Truly a joy to pull off.   Then, just to make it look even more blurry, I paint crystal clear rain drops in-front of all,  accentuating the abstraction of light even further...

"SCRAPBOOK SEREIS"

                                                   "FRIENDS & LOVERS"
                                                      14x14 oil on canvas

I have thought about all the things that surround us and have found all things are in sets of two's.  For insistence; Night & Day, Light & Dark, Hot & Cold, Good & Yes you guessed it.. Bad. So you see where I am going with this and if you are like me, you will come up with so many more that it will make your head spin.  Thus, the title to my painting.  The two are sunōnumos with each or at least should be.   Being the romantic, I can't think of a better combo then Friends & Lovers.

"Santa Monica"

                                                     "santa monica" 14x14

This is one of an ongoing series of paintings about light, rain and what happens when camera focus's on just the drops of water.  For me it is a magical moment both to see and then paint.   Stay tuned for more.

"SUNSET & VINE"

One of the most iconic corners but on a rainy night, photographed in low light and low speed, it became just this wonderful abstraction of colored blurry lights moving through the night.  It was one shot as I had to start driving  thus ending the beeping from the person behind me...  When I got home and was able to see my handy work with camera, I new; it was time for a painting to begin.... This is a 40x34 oil on canvas and will be at the Laguna Arts Festival starting July 1 to Aug 30...
