                                                                         8x8inch oil on panel

After years of traveling, crisscrossing countless cities, small towns, back allies, snow storms and hot deserts I finely caught-up with you; Your looking great, we have so much to catch up on, and with no place to go, we have all the time in the world.

UNDER THE BOARDWALK

                                               UNDER THE BOARDWALK Sold

                                                 8x8inch oil on panel

The sounds of laughter and music field the air; then came the smells of popcorn,  hotdogs, and bbq.  I have visited this memory many times over the years, doing this painting had me return to my youth and a time gone by.  Hope you have good memories as well.

                                                      8x8inch oil on panel

Road to the Flat-Irons in Colorado while on a visit to my good friends was magical.  I was struck by how flat and broad the landscape was.  The feeling of space was amazing to my eyes.  I wanted to say by-by to all.

                                                     8x8inch oil on panel

The magic of the mountain, changing, growing, ruling the sky and lands below.  The Barn also changing, fading, empty, and yet adding to the magic of the mountain.

"BYGONES"

                                                           "BYGONES"
                                                    6X6inch oil on panel

Not sure how I came by this photo or how long I've had it, the only thing I knew is it spoke to me,  thus I had to paint it.  I remember traveling across this great country seeing small towns like this, the simplicity of a time gone by.  Now we are in an age of fake news being shouted at us.  Friends, and families disagreeing with a division like a chasm in a landscape growing wider.  So!  i painted this, hopefully not in memory of bygones, because just on the horizon one can still see trust, faith, love, caring and hope.

So folks, lets make it happen.

ON HIGH

                                                                   ON HIGH
                                                           6x6 oil on wood panel

With the evening approaching the clouds began to gather and build like a crescendo.  I had to stop and stare at a great play and its finally before everything turns to black.

HOMEWARD

                                                            6X6" oil on panel

Heading south trying to catch the sun as it slowly sinks behind the clouds and eventually giving way to night my mind drifts to all that has taken place.   Like the setting sun and the beginning of the new day that will fallow, I too look forward to new beginnings as well, I do indeed

SOFT CLOUDS

                                                           SOFT CLOUDS
                                                           6x6 oil on panel

It was such a wonderfully clear day, so I had to get out and just walk.  The weather was perfect, I had water and a protein bar and I journeyed out. I was about an hour into the walk when I heard distant rumblings.  Looking up when I got to a clearing I could see big beautiful clouds coming in.   I'm thinking, its time to head on out of here.  I looked back and the hills and mountains as the cloud cover rolled over them like a soft white blanket.  It rained all day.

This and other works can be seen at this summers Festival of Art

"INNOCENCE"

                                                          "INNOCENCE"
                                                       oil on canvas 24x24

There was that time when life seamed so innocent.  I bike ride to no place in particular by ones self, sleep underneath tall eucalyptus without a care and watch clouds meandering overhead.   Even the possibility of rain, who cares!  It was a La Dee DA time, wasn't it?   Tell me it was.
This is what I wanted to capture.  I wanted to feel innocent again even for a moment.

This will be in this summers show in Laguna Beach CA

"matineee at 7

                                                       "Matinee at 7" oil 30x30

The sun was inching its way closer to the earth with the clouds rushing away in slow motion.
Standing in the middle of the street I watched the knight come into its own.  Soon the movie would start, people already inside are missing the best show, and its free, its all free.

"HARVEST"

"HARVEST" a 6x6" oil on wood

Loving the open plans and fields alike I know I had to paint this.  I took countless photos of the American plains when traveling to shows back east.  Still love looking at what I takes to harvest the lands and all the hard work that goes into it.   I wanted to do this and I will be working on some larger canvass of said subject.  Stay tuned for that post.

New Painting

                                                       "STICKS&STONES"
                                                       24X24 oil on canvas

This painting was from a photograph from a great dentist friend who does some crazy mountain biking and takes great photos.... This was a big storm that rolled through AZ.
The stones are  a photo from my Sons lady friend in Minnesota.  In other words, two people where kind enough to allow me to use my skills and combine both scenes in order  to create this painting.

"ON THE EDGE"

                                                           "ON THE EDGE"
                                                        30x30 oil on canvas

Traveling on a back road with the city riding the horizon, flanked by the pacific on one side and dry grasses on the other it was truly on the edge.  I pulled of the road, knelt down to get closer to the ground thus accentuating the sky and sliver of life I took one photo.  It was to be my next painting.

"EQUATION of SPACE"

                                                       "EQUATION of SPACE"
                                                            24x24 oil (sold)

This is from one of many road trips with my sis.  I was traveling around doing art show, each was a crazy adventure onto them selves.   This painting was from traveling through the heartland with its endless horizons, but more then that; The combination of sky and land made for a mind bending visual effect on the senses and emotions, numbing and exhilarating, one could not exist without the other, thus the title of the painting.

"DRY GRASSES"

                                                       "DRY GRASSES"
                                                     6x6inch oil on wood

With the city in the distance and miles of dry grasses it was hard to ignore the change in the climate.  It seems I just remember greener times.  Those words we here from the weather reporters, "UNSEASONABLY WARMER" Hmm! I do wonder why.... So! For me, I get to paint some interesting color combinations, rich rusts with good blue backgrounds, big puffy clouds.  All great stuff, don't you think?  Just say'in

"LAGUNA MORNING"

                                                           "LAGUNA MORNING"
a 6x6 inch study on wood

After months of painting only my large canvass it feels so good to return to my small studies on wood.  To do these is slowing down my thoughts, working with small brushes, blending and re-blending, all to capture so much in such a small space.  It is both challenging and rewarding.  This big sky is took place one morning with the sun just making its way above the hills in South Laguna Beach, illuminating this band clouds that disappeared to the horizon.   It was a must stop and catch ones breath.  Such a beautiful planet, do take care of her. Another for the 'SCRAPBOOK SERIES" #11

                                                    "BARBED WIRE & RAINDROPS"
                                                                  30X30 oil

There are times when one is just in the right spot and the right time.  Pulling off on the side of the road, I excited my car to see the sun beginning its journey to the other side of the earth.  I garbed my camera and spotted these two posts in an empty field and thought there's  a nice composition.  Squatting down I took aim and clicked off four photos knowing this is a painting.   The other was raindrops that I truly love painting, putting the two together I new would make a nice painting for my series.
