"MY ALLEY"

Tones, shapes and texture, that is what I wanted in this.. A time gone by, a place to remember or recall.. I find that most of us have seen or been or new of alleyways, small streets, quiet times, safe moments from the past... I have to add more to this, thanks to my artist friend Cara Romero... The alley's are almost gone from us. House's are squeezed in with walls, no porches, garages in the front with remotes so none of us get to wave and say "Hello" gone are the games that where played in the alley's.. Like a ghost the house begins to appear showing its dominants over the field. "WINTERS GLOW"

The fence ran along the property line covering quite a large area. As I watched the last remaining light of the sun fade behind the clouds that closed in on the land this day I thought to myself "not even a fence can keep winters snow from coming in". "THE BAY"

As the sun was just about to go into hiding, with the warm breeze blowing a cold drink setting on the table next to me, I picked my camera up and took this departing shot for the evening.... Three years later and far, far from this magical of places, I return if only in my minds-eye..

"LONG WALK HOME"

Out on a back road in San Antonio I caught this as the sun was just about to drop out of the sky.
I have over a couple of years painted this scene and each time there is something new that I gain in the coloring and the application of the pigments.. I have painted this as a 74"x30 and now 6x8 inch and I must say I really like what took place this time in around with equal enthusiasm over the finished piece. After jumping out of the cab holding my trusty camera, I got one shot and ran inside for I was running late. The geometrics of the city has and always will be a fascination for me. "LAST SUMMER"

A more impressionistic view of a place I stayed this last summer... The friendships, good food, wine and a place I could call home are memories forever... The fact that I painted this with a much freer brushstroke is most symbolic of my time there. I did it without thinking, a real letting go, something I should do more off... What a fun thing to have presented itself to me...

I wanted to return to still-life painting and at the same time keep my sky paintings as a recurring theme. I thought. "Why not paint the still-life casting a shadow on the sky". I have time to think on what I want to do next, not just with my blogs paintings but my larger canvases... I feel or sense a change coming on, its like being aware of something behind me that will come forward and revel itself... "RAIN ON THE PLAINS"

"MURAL PROJECT"

This was painted at the Laguna Beach art show that you have heard me talk so much about... Here is one of many projects that came up. This one I had to get involved with for it seamed apprapo for our effort at the DP this coming month.... This is a 12' long by 5' high mural on canvas that was a collaborative effort of four artists from the show..... I was asked if I would work on this and I said "yes" without knowing what it was about, but I thought it would be fun to do with three other artists on this one mural and four artists on another ... My team painted this one that you see in 4 hours... I painted the sky first then we each jumped in and did something to pull this off.... Dagmar came up with the planets, Bruce the grasslands, Shockley the dragonfly's... We danced around never disturbing the efforts of the other..... There were no egos so everyone could make a mark, add a color, take over if one got side tracked and always kept in mind what this was about " The Children & The Planet" This entire project was filmed and in the end some 5200 murals totaling 12 miles will be wrapped around a pyramid in Egypt in 2010..
