For me, it was making the painting work with a minimal of color and subject matter and still giving substance for the painting. There is, as I have said before, so much with so little.. I keep working on capturing my love affair with the vastness of the planes. In this painting, the challenge was positioning all the elements so it read correctly, whatever that means, for everyone has their own point of view. Oil on Birch panel, mounted on a 6x6 inch varnished wooden box. (Sold)

Although I live at the far eastern limit of Tornado Alley I recognize that sky. It's the kind that you can't help but watch with uneasiness. Great painting.
Good morning Pilgrim,
Not many have experienced that type of sky, I'm glad you recognized and could feel it... I love them and have seen them not enough times for me..
Keep on painting,
GS
